JEAN-PAUL DESAULNIERS has been playing the violin since the age of four and studied with teachers Richard Lawrence, Victor Danchenko and Edward Minevich. He has performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and festivals, as well as regional and national competitions (Kiwanis, CMC). He is also an avid chamber musician. He plays regularly with Darren Lee of the Rosedale Piano Quintet, and is the first violinist of Summer Quartet, a string quartet based in Toronto which has performed on several occasions at Toronto Summer Music, and at numerous concerts within the Greater Toronto Area.  After the pandemic began in March 2020, Jean-Paul started a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/JPViolin), where he has already posted over 60 videos.  Outside of his music life, Jean-Paul has a PhD in Chemistry, and is a Professor in Chemistry at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa. As an educator, he collaborates with researchers abroad, develops exchange opportunities for students and often visits China, Japan, Thailand, and Europe.
